The Sports First Aid courses is designed for people who work or volunteer in sports. Candidates in this course will discover the most effective first aid procedures as well as information on typical sports injuries and what to look for. First aid for sport is aimed at coaches, parents, and individuals who organise sports activities. This will help you deal with the first aid needs of someone who is injured or bleeding.
In this course, you will learn how to administer basic first aid, how to use the contents of a first aid kit, what they are used for, educate you about how to safely handle the transfer of a patient depending on the accident's circumstances, and when to call the necessary emergency services. You will also learn how to assess a head injury, treat and monitor for shocks. This first aid for sport course covers the skills needed to recognise and manage a casualty with Cardiac Arrest and teach the techniques necessary to properly provide first aid to a person who is unconscious in a medical emergency. When it comes to sports, injuries may happen at any time. Whether you're an athlete, a coach, or a sports fan, knowing first aid for sport is essential.

Courses duration – minimum of 6 hours, which can be split over two sessions.
There is no exam, continual assessment during the courses.
The certificate will remain valid for 3 years
Candidates for this first aid for sport courses should demonstrate their competence to:
- Use of first aid equipment including the contents of a first aid kit.
- An action plan for an emergency including record keeping.
- The importance of personal hygiene during first aid.
- How to manage a casualty that is suffering from:
- Cardiac Arrest
- Is unconscious
- Is wounded or bleeding
- Is suffering from shock
- History, signs and symptoms
- Is suffering from an injury to bones, muscles or joints
- Head injuries
- The use of an AED
- Manage the transportation of a casualty as required by the circumstances of the incident
