About This Course


Become an emergency first aider in Burton-on-Trent and take care of emergencies – learn when and how to use first aid equipment, how to perform CPR and other life-saving techniques.

Course duration – 3 hours.

The certificate will last for 3 years from the date of the course.

There is no formal exam, a certificate of attendance will be issued. This course is not regulated by the HSE.

 On completion of training, candidates should be able to:

  • Understand the role of an emergency first aider including reference to:
    1. Learning to prevent cross-infection.
    2. The need for recording incidents and accidents
    3. Use of available equipment
    4. Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
    5. Effectively in an emergency
    6. You can administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
    7. You can administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    8. You can provide basic instruction in the use of an AED
    9. You can administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded, bleeding and in shock
    10. You can provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries


This training is suitable for those who are required to carry out basic first aid duties such as administering first aid and CPR, or for those interested in becoming a volunteer first aider.
